There's a crazy amount of TV action at Comic-Con 2015, and with Marvel, Sony, and Paramount opting out of the Con this year, this may help fill the gap left by those big-screen players. Here’s our curated list of 13 exciting shows, movies, and more we think will be blowing up in San Diego.
“ Though it's a quiet year for movies at Comic-Con, the Star Wars: The Force Awakenspanel should be the main event of the entire weekend, unless J.J Abrams holds the movie's cards close to his chest, or Loki drops from the sky into Hall H to announce his own spin-off movie, or a certain "Game of Thrones" character is brought back to life in the Ballroom 20.
Abrams will unveil a new trailer at the very least, right? If he assembles the known cast and drops any sort of hint or tidbit about the movie during the presentation, good luck to anything else trying to make news headlines for the rest of the day. ”

People: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley
Titles: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
“ The worst thing about a two-part ending to a movie franchise that's based on books you love is: an under-baked first installment can make you feel ambivalent, even just temporarily, toward all the good stuff to come in the actual-real finale.Mockingjay - Part 2 should forgive the faults of its somewhat sleepy and exposition-heavy predecessor, and I'm looking forward to an uncensored J-Law and her allies making one last Comic-Con appearance. ”
People: Evan Ross,Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin
Titles: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015)
“ A movie that was almost scrapped because of a script leak becomes a Comic-Con centerpiece, with Quentin Tarantino making his second appearance in Hall H. It's unconfirmed which cast members will join him on stage but the simple fact that he's reunited with Tim Roth and Michael Madsen is cause for anticipation and celebration. I'd like to think that Jennifer Jason Leigh's character will be as unhinged as Darryl Hannah in Kill Bill. ”
Titles: The Hateful Eight(2015)
“ If Duncan Jones weren't directing this movie, it probably would have been just a footnote on my list. The moment he signed on as director and co-writer of the potential franchise-starter, it made me want to know more aboutWarcraft aside from the fact that it's a video game series that starts off in a place called Azeroth and has been responsible for many divorces and break-ups. ”
Titles: Warcraft (2016)
“ Speaking of divorces, I am unsure if Ben Affleck will make an appearance given his recent announcement, but I'm pretty sure we'll see some new Batman v Supermanfootage. Hopefully it will feature the actor/character I'm most intrigued by: Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Eisenberg is confirmed for the panel so I'm banking on a first look at his take on the iconic villain. DC Comics has to be working hard to own Comic-Con since Marvel is on a summer vacation. ”
People: Jesse Eisenberg
Titles: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
“ Only Joss Whedon could wrangle an impossible number of superheroes into a satisfyingly messy sequel to a record-breaking movie, be critical of his own work and the MCU, part on good terms with Disney and Marvel, take on feminists and anti-feminists alike, and still want to appear in front of a Comic-Con audience. I'm not a super-fan of his work; I find him fascinating as a creator and really look forward to hearing him address his past couple years and what's ahead for him. ”
People: Joss Whedon
Titles: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013 TV Series)
“ It's time for a quick break to acknowledge how much I love it when fan Q&A sessions look like this. ”
Titles: Community (2009 TV Series)
“ While the Evil Deadremake did not weaken the lasting power of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, really this franchise is nothing without Bruce Campbell as Ash. Sorry about it, Mia; let's watch this show together. ”
Titles: Ash vs Evil Dead(2015 TV Series)
“ Crossing my fingers for loud boos directed at NBC and maybe - just maybe - a glimmer of hope that another network will pick up a fourth season of the most heralded, under-watched, and under-rated show that's not on Netflix or Hulu ... yet. ”
People: Gillian Anderson,Mads Mikkelsen
Titles: Hannibal (2013 TV Series), Antipasto (2015 TV Episode)
“ My hope is that season one of Ryan Murphy's new show is half as fun as season three of "American Horror Story". ”
People: Emma Roberts,Abigail Breslin, Ariana Grande, Billie Lourd
Titles: Scream Queens(2015 TV Series)
“ A friend told me to start watching "Vikings" as I was lamenting the fact that "Game of Thrones" won't be back until the spring of 2016; I watched the first few episodes and I'm pretty hooked. I'm going to try and fiend my way through all 3 seasons before the panel so I can fit in with the OG fans. ”
People: Travis Fimmel,Alyssa Sutherland
Titles: Vikings (2013 TV Series), The Usurper(2015 TV Episode)
“ Knowing that Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" companion series will focus on a married couple who are very much in love and form a team to survive the first stages of the zombie apocalypse makes me think way back to some moments Rick and Lori Grimes shared at the very beginning of "TWD".
Since the first season is only six episodes and Kirkman has indicated it starts off deliberately and quickly goes into full-on panic mode, Kirkman and AMC are being wise with their spin-off to what's arguably the most popular show on TV.
I'm thinking AMC has a proper trailer, a glimpse or two at the early-wave zombies, and a publicity stunt or two in store. ”
