We're not sure if it's a tribute (贡品;礼物;致敬) to the late (已故的) Yves Saint Laurent, who first made sexy tuxedos (男士无尾半正式晚礼服) for women or a nod to the glass ceiling shattering Clinton campaign, but this season is all about menswear (男服) for ladies. For his debut (首次演出,首次露面) collection at Bill Blass, Peter Som updated the late designer's signature mix of masculine (男性的,) fabrics (衣服质地) and feminine (女性的) shapes.
note:
glass ceiling: an unacknowledged discriminatory barrier that prevents women and minorities from rising to positions of power or responsibility, as within a corporation.
玻璃天花板:不被公开承认的歧视藩篱,不让女性或是弱势少数族群晋升至权力或者责任核心位置,例如在一家公司中
Yves Saint Laurent: (From Wiki)
Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, known as Yves Saint Laurent (August 1, 1936 – June 1, 2008), was an Algerian-born French fashion designer who was considered one of the greatest figures in French fashion in the 20th century. In 1985, Caroline Rennolds Milbank wrote, "The most consistently celebrated and influential designer of the past twenty-five years, Yves Saint Laurent can be credited with both spurring (刺激,鞭策) the couture's (服装业) rise from its sixties ashes (废墟) and with finally rendering ready-to-wear reputable".
