DECEMBER IS NATIONAL DRUNK AND DRUGGED DRIVING MONTH.
JUST THE FACTS:
* In 2007, drivers between the ages of 16-20 were involved in 1, 719 drunk driving accidents.
*Every 24 hours 1,620 people are injured or maimed by a drunk driver!
*In 2006, an estimated 17,602 people died in alcohol-related traffic crashes----an average of ONE EVERY 30 MINUTES.
* Alcohol-related fatalities are caused primarily by the consumption of beer (80%) followed by liquor/wine at 20%.
* In the past decade, four times as many Americans died in drunk driving crashes as were killed in the Vietnam War.
