Unlike some women, Cameron Diaz did not dread turning 40.
“I was so excited,” she told Oprah Winfrey in an interview for OWN Sunday night.
“The day I woke up as a 40-year-old woman, I felt like I went, ‘Oh, now life begins. Oh, this is it! This is the coolest thing ever,’” Diaz, now 41, said on “Oprah Prime.”
The actress and model admitted that she didn’t always embrace getting older. She has used Botox in the past, though she regrets it now, saying it left her face in a “weird way.”
“For me I feel like if I – it is almost as if we have failed if we don’t remain 25 for the rest of our lives. Like we are failures. It is a personal failure. Like it’s our fault that at 40 years old that I still don’t look like I’m 25,” Diaz told Winfrey.
Diaz, who recently released ‘The Body Book,’ joined Sharon Stone in the conversation on aging gracefully. Diaz told Winfrey that she has finally embraced the aging process.
“It’s a gradual thing and you get to learn about yourself and see yourself and start to live with who you are as you go,” she said.
