Not a single state shows signs of slimming; Miss. remains No. 1 for obesity

WASHINGTON - Mississippi’s (密西西比州) still king of cellulite (脂肪团), but an ominous (不吉利的) tide is rolling toward the Medicare doctors in neighboring (邻接的) Alabama (阿拉巴马州): Obese (极为肥胖的) baby boomers.
It’s time for the nation’s annual obesity rankings and, outside of fairly lean Colorado (美国西部的科罗拉多州), there’s little good news. In 31 states, more than one in four adults are obese, says a new report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
And obesity rates among adults rose in 23 states over the past year, and no state experienced a significant decline.
"The obesity epidemic (流行病) clearly goes beyond being an individual problem,” said Jeff Levi, executive director of the Trust, a nonprofit (非盈利性的) public health group.
注: ... outside of fairly lean Colorado, there’s little good news. 这里的little表示否定,“什么好消息也没有”。句意为“除了科罗拉多州的人们体型较瘦以外就没什么其他好消息了”。
